Statua Wolności (ang. Statue of Liberty), właściwie Wolność Opromieniająca Świat (ang. Liberty Enlightening the World, fr. La liberté éclairant le monde) – posąg na wyspie Liberty Island u ujścia rzeki Hudson do Oceanu Atlantyckiego w regionie metropolitalnym Nowego Jorku, nieoficjalny symbol wolności, Nowego Jorku i Stanów Zjednoczonych. Wyspa Liberty wraz z wyspą Ellis stanowi kompleks będący własnością federalną i zarządzany przez National Park Service. Administracyjnie należy do stanu Nowy Jork. 

Monumentalna, neoklasycystyczna statua została wzniesiona w latach 1884–1886 według projektu Frédérica-Auguste’a Bartholdiego, Gustave’a Eiffela (konstrukcja) i Richarda Morrisa Hunta (postument). 

Dar narodu francuskiego dla narodu amerykańskiego, upamiętniający przymierze obu narodów w czasie wojny o niepodległość Stanów Zjednoczonych. W 1924 został uznany za narodowy pomnik Stanów Zjednoczonych, a w 1984 wpisany na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Figuruje również w rejestrze National Register of Historic Places.

Pomnik, utrzymany w stylu neoklasycyzmu realistycznego, jest dziełem francuskiego rzeźbiarza Frédérica-Auguste’a Bartholdiego. Przedstawia postać kobiecą trzymającą w prawej dłoni pochodnię, a w lewej tablicę, na której umieszczona jest data uzyskania niepodległości przez Stany Zjednoczone. Wyryte jest dokładnie: JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (4 lipca 1776). Na koncepcję Statuy Wolności miał wpływ obraz Eugène Delacroix – Wolność wiodąca lud na barykady, a jej twarzy Bartholdi nadał rysy własnej matki, lecz ciało wzorował na swojej kochance. 

Pomnik był darem rządu francuskiego dla USA w 100-lecie uchwalenia Deklaracji niepodległości. Został wzniesiony we Francji i przekazany w 1884 ambasadorowi amerykańskiemu w Paryżu. Potem rozebrano go na części i wysłano statkiem do Nowego Jorku. Odsłonięcie odbyło się 28 października 1886 i dokonał tego prezydent Grover Cleveland. Jest narodowym pomnikiem USA, zarządzanym przez National Park Service. 

Statua Wolności znajduje się na Liberty Island, u ujścia rzeki Hudson. Podstawa pomnika stoi na XIX-wiecznym forcie Wood, o narysie gwiaździstym. Jest własnością federalną administrowaną przez National Park Service i znajduje się na terenie objętym jurysdykcją stanu Nowy Jork. 

Na postumencie znajduje się płyta z tekstem sonetu Emmy Lazarus Nowy kolos. 

Dane Wysokość: 46,5 m; Wysokość wraz z cokołem: 93 m; Waga: 229 ton; Szerokość w talii: 11 m; Konstrukcja: ze stali i miedzi, wewnątrz znajdują się dwa ciągi spiralnych schodów prowadzących do punktu widokowego. Trzeci ciąg schodów do pochodni nie jest dostępny dla zwiedzających Autorem konstrukcji stalowej i podstawy był Gustave Eiffel; Piedestał (projektu amerykańskiego architekta Richarda Morrisa Hunta) wysokości 47 m.

Posąg stał się symbolem wolnej i bogatej Ameryki dla wielu emigrantów przybywających do Nowego Jorku. Statua stoi na zerwanym łańcuchu, dzierżąc w prawej ręce pochodnię, w lewej zaś tablicę z napisem 4 lipca 1776 Dzień Niepodległości Ameryki. 

Statua Wolności skonstruowana jest z miedzi, dlatego w wyniku korozji atmosferycznej jej powłoka okryła się patyną, przez co uzyskała grynszpanowy kolor.

Rok po September 11, 2001 r. w 2002 r. w Muzeum Narodowym odbyła się wystawa moich zdjęć i wyszedł album, na okładce którego była również Statua Wolności. To tylko dwa przykłady, a było ich znacznie więcej…” – Czesław Czapliński.

  W wyniku zamachów z 11 września 2001 zamknięto wstęp dla turystów do tarasu widokowego w koronie statuy. 23 maja 2009 wnętrze statuy zostało przywrócone do zwiedzania, wraz z dwoma tarasami widokowymi i prowadzącymi do nich ciągami schodów. Wstęp na najwyższą część ramienia i znicza jest od 1916 niedostępny dla zwiedzających. W październiku 2012 ponownie otwarto koronę dla zwiedzających.

  Statue of Liberty, officially Liberty Enlightening the World (French: La liberté éclairant le monde) – is a monumental statue located on Liberty Island at the mouth of the Hudson River, opening into the Atlantic Ocean in the New York metropolitan area. It is an unofficial symbol of freedom, New York City, and the United States. Liberty Island, together with nearby Ellis Island, forms a federal property complex administered by the National Park Service. Administratively, it belongs to the state of New York.

The monumental, neoclassical statue was constructed between 1884 and 1886, designed by Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi(sculptor), Gustave Eiffel (structural engineer), and Richard Morris Hunt (pedestal architect).

It was a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, commemorating the alliance of the two nations during the American War of Independence. In 1924, it was designated a U.S. National Monument, and in 1984 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The monument, created in the style of realistic neoclassicism, depicts a female figure holding a torch in her right hand and a tablet in her left, inscribed with the date of the American Declaration of Independence: JULY IV MDCCLXXVI (July 4, 1776). The statue’s design was inspired in part by Eugène Delacroix’s painting Liberty Leading the People. Bartholdi modeled the face after his mother and the body after his mistress.

The statue was a gift from the French government to the United States on the centennial of the Declaration of Independence. It was built in France, presented to the American ambassador in Paris in 1884, then disassembled and shipped by sea to New York. The unveiling took place on October 28, 1886, by President Grover Cleveland. It remains a national monument managed by the National Park Service.

The Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The statue’s pedestal is built upon Fort Wood, a 19th-century star-shaped fort. The island is federal property under the jurisdiction of the state of New York and administered by the National Park Service.

A plaque bearing the text of Emma Lazarus’s sonnet "The New Colossus" is mounted on the pedestal.

The statue became a symbol of free and prosperous America for millions of immigrants arriving in New York. The figure stands on a broken chain, holding a torch in her right hand and a tablet inscribed “July 4, 1776 – Independence Day of America” in her left.

Because the Statue of Liberty is made of copper, its surface developed a green patina over time due to atmospheric corrosion, giving it its distinctive color.

  Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, public access to the observation deck in the statue’s crown was closed. On May 23, 2009, the interior of the statue was reopened to visitors, including two observation decks and the stairways leading to them. Access to the torch and upper arm has remained closed since 1916. In October 2012, the crown was once again reopened to the public.
