Alexander George Thynn, 7. markiz Bath (ur. 6 maja 1932 – zm. 4 kwietnia 2020), stylizowany na wicehrabiego Weymouth w latach 1946-1992, był właścicielem posiadłości Longleat, zasiadał w Izbie Lordów od 1992 do 1999, a także artystą i autorem.

Pamiętam, jak w pewnej chwili, Alexander zawołał jedną osobę z otoczenia i poprosił mnie, abym dał jej aparat, to zrobi nam wspólne zdjęcie. Tak też się stało. Muszę zaznaczyć, że nie były to czasy, tak jak dziś, że podchodzi się do kogoś ważnego i aparatem w telefonie komórkowym robi wspólne zdjęcie tzw. selfie. Co potem skfapliwie zamieszczają na FB, jak swoje osiągnięcia.
Kiedy wysłałem mu zdjęcia, które zrobiłem, napisał mi list do Nowego Jorku 18 grudnia 2000 r. – „Serdeczne dzięki za zachwycająco ekspresyjne fotoportrety”.
Urodzony w rodzinie Thynne, porzucił „e” w 1976 roku, ponieważ chciał podkreślić jego poprawną wymowę. Był znany ze swojego kolorowego stylu ubierania się, który nabył, będąc studentem sztuki w Paryżu, i był płodnym malarzem -amatorem, który dekorował pokoje w swoim domu erotycznymi scenami z Kamasutry.
Po śmierci ojca w 1992 roku zwolnił swojego młodszego brata Lorda Christophera Thynne'a ze stanowiska kontrolera majątku, eksmitując go z domu w posiadłości Longleat. Alexander George Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath (6 May 1932 – 4 April 2020), styled Viscount Weymouth from 1946 to 1992, was the owner of Longleat, a member of the House of Lords from 1992 to 1999, and an artist and by the author.
Lord Bath was in the media spotlight for his hippie fashion sense and numerous "wives". The Sunday Times in "Rich List" 2009 estimated his wealth at £157 million.
After attending Ludgrove School and Eton College, he joined the Life Guards for the National Service where he was commissioned a lieutenant in 1951. He then traveled to Christ Church, Oxford, where he was president of the Bullingdon Club, before embarking on a modern European grand tour. In the 1950s he studied art in Paris.
Political career as Viscount Weymouth, he stood in the February 1974 general election as a Wessex regionalist, believing Wessex was better off as a devolved region of the United Kingdom. Shortly after this general election, he became one of the founders of the Wessex Regionalist Party. He represented the party in the first ever elections to the European Parliament in 1979.
After succeeding to the title of Marquess and his father's other titles in 1992, Lord Bath sat in the House of Lords, as a Liberal Democrat, until he lost his right to sit in the Upper House following New Labor House of Lords reforms which removed all but 92 hereditary peers. Among other things, he advocated the decentralization of England's regions.
Lord Bath also recognized an illegitimate daughter born around 2000. During his marriage, he had open sexual relationships with many women whom he referred to as "wives".
I visited Alexander George Thynn on October 22, 2000, at Longleat House Warminister, together with the painter Barbara Kaczmarowska Hamilton from London, who painted portraits of, among others, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles of Kent, Princess Diana… We spent an amazing time in an amazing environment. I remember how at one point, Alexander called one person from the environment and asked me to give him a camera and he would take a picture of us together. So it happened. I have to point out that those were not times like today, when you approach someone important and take a photo with the camera on your mobile phone, the so-called selfies. What then they eagerly post on FB, like their achievements.
When I sent him the photos I had taken, he wrote me a letter to New York on December 18, 2000 – „Many thanks, for the delightfully expression photo portraits”.
Born into a Thynne family, he dropped the "e" in 1976 because he wanted to emphasize its correct pronunciation. He was known for his colorful style of dress, which he acquired while an art student in Paris, and was a prolific amateur painter who decorated rooms in his home with erotic scenes from the Kama Sutra.
After his father's death in 1992, he dismissed his younger brother Lord Christopher Thynne as comptroller of the estate, evicting him from his home on the Longleat estate. In early 2010, he handed over the management of the company to his son, then Viscount Weymouth. According to one account, the viscount intended to evict the mistresses from their estates. Some of his father's murals were removed, causing a rift and leading to the Marquess boycott of his son's marriage to Emma McQuiston.
Lord Bath was admitted to the Royal United Hospital in Bath on 28 March 2020 and tested positive for COVID-19 while in hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. He died of pneumonia while contracting the virus on April 4, 2020 at the age of 87.
