Zubin Mehta (ur. 29 kwietnia 1936 w Bombaju) – indyjski dyrygent muzyki poważnej.
Wielokrotnie prowadził koncert noworoczny w Wiedniu. Przez ponad 50 lat był związany z Izraelską Orkiestrą Symfoniczną w Tel Awiwie, a w latach 1981–2019 pełnił funkcję jej dyrektora. Dyrygował na koncertach trzech tenorów – Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarottiego i José Carrerasa. W 2005 zorganizował w Madras koncert wspomagający ofiary tsunami. W 2007 wystąpił w Polsce z orkiestrą florenckiego Teatru Muzycznego.
W 1966 został odznaczony Orderem Padma Bhushan, a w 2001 – Orderem Padma Vibhushan. Jest laureatem japońskiej Praemium Imperiale 2008.
Jego ojcem był Mehli Mehta, indyjski dyrygent i skrzypek, a nauczycielem Hans Swarowsky.
Pierwsze małżeństwo Mehty odbyło się z kanadyjską sopranistką Carmen Lasky w 1958 roku. Mają syna Mervona (od kwietnia 2009 dyrektor wykonawczy ds. sztuk performatywnych Królewskiego Konserwatorium w Toronto) i córkę Zarinę. W 1964 roku rozwiedli się. Dwa lata po rozwodzie Carmen poślubiła brata Mehty, Zarina Mehtę, byłego dyrektora wykonawczego New York Philharmonic. W lipcu 1969 roku Mehta poślubił Nancy Kovack, amerykańską byłą aktorkę filmową i telewizyjną. Będąc stałym mieszkańcem Stanów Zjednoczonych, Mehta zachowuje obywatelstwo indyjskie.

Jednym z jego bliskich przyjaciół był Ravi Shankar, którego poznał w latach 60. XX wieku, kiedy Mehta dyrygował nim z Montreal Symphony. Ich przyjaźń trwała nadal, gdy oboje mieszkali w Los Angeles, a później w Nowym Jorku. „To był wspaniały okres w moim życiu, a Zubin i ja naprawdę świetnie się bawiliśmy.”.
Jego druga córka, Alexandra, urodziła się w Los Angeles w 1967 roku w wyniku romansu Mehty między jego dwoma małżeństwami. Jego syn Ori urodził się w latach 90. w wyniku pozawojennego romansu w Izraelu podczas drugiego małżeństwa Mehty.
Pierwsze portrety Zubin Mehta robiłem 15 marca 1985 r. w Carnegie Hall w Nowym Jorku, kiedy dyrygował Israel Philharmonic, gdzie grał wybitny skrzypek Itzhak Perlman, którego wcześniej fotografowałem. Zdjęcia zrobiłem, kiedy Zubin Mehta po występie przyszedł za kulisy i był w znakomitym nastroju, gdyż koncert był owacyjnie przyjęty, zresztą jak większość jego występów.
Wielokrotnie odznaczany m.in.: Order Padma Vibhushan (Indie), Order Padma Bhushan (Indie), Krzyż Oficerski za Naukę i Sztukę (Austria), Kawaler Orderu Narodowego Legii Honorowej (Francja), Order Bawarski Maksymiliana za Naukę i Sztukę, Order Zasługi Republiki Włoskiej I Klasy (1951-2001), Order Zasługi Republiki Włoskiej II Klasy (1951-2001), Krzyż Komandorski Orderu Zasługi RFN.

Zubin Mehta (born 29 April 1936 in Mumbai) – Indian classical music conductor.
He conducted the New Year's concert in Vienna many times. For over 50 years he was associated with the Israel Symphony Orchestra in Tel Aviv, and in the years 1981–2019 he was its director. He conducted concerts of three tenors – Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras. In 2005, he organized a concert in Madras to support the victims of the tsunami. In 2007 he performed in Poland with the orchestra of the Florentine Musical Theatre.
He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1966 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2001. He is a laureate of the Japanese Praemium Imperiale 2008.
His father was Mehli Mehta, an Indian conductor and violinist, and his teacher was Hans Swarowsky.
Mehta's first marriage was to Canadian soprano Carmen Lasky in 1958. They have a son, Mervon (since April 2009, executive director of performing arts at the Royal Conservatory of Toronto) and a daughter, Zarina. In 1964 they divorced. Two years after their divorce, Carmen married Mehta's brother, Zarin Mehta, a former executive director of the New York Philharmonic. In July 1969, Mehta married Nancy Kovack, an American former film and television actress. Being a permanent resident of the United States, Mehta retains his Indian citizenship.

One of his close friends was Ravi Shankar, whom he first met in the 1960s when Mehta directed him with the Montreal Symphony. Their friendship continued after they were both living in Los Angeles and later in New York. "This was a wonderful period in my life and Zubin and I really had a great time.".
His second daughter Alexandra was born in Los Angeles in 1967, the result of an affair Mehta had between his two marriages. His son Ori was born in the 1990s as the result of an extra-martial affair in Israel during Mehta's second marriage.
I took my first portraits of Zubin Mehta on March 15, 1985 at Carnegie Hall in New York, when the Israel Philharmonic was conducting, where the outstanding violinist Itzhak Perlman, whom I had photographed earlier, played. I took the photos when Zubin Mehta came backstage after the performance and was in a great mood, because the concert was greeted with ovations, like most of his performances.
