Ryszard W.Varisella - biznesman, galerzysta, marszand, kolekcjoner, ur. 20 sierpnia 1957 r. W 1983 roku otworzył w Niemczech swoją pierwszą galerię.

„…Ojciec w czasach PRL zarabiał naprawdę spore pieniądze będąc czołowym producentem w branży ogrodniczej, wówczas określany jako „badylarz". Wyposażony przez niego, na początku lat 80. XX wieku wyjechałem do Niemiec, a następnie do Stanów Zjednoczonych. Pierwszy, zarobiony w całości przeze mnie milion, pochodził jednak z handlu dziełami sztuki. Z wykształcenia jestem ekonomistą, do zajęcia się tym namówił mnie wujek, profesor z ASP w Krakowie. Krążyłem między Nowym Jorkiem i Europą kupując i sprzedając dzieła z drugiej połowu XX wieku. Interesowały mnie obrazy Picassa, pop-art., lata 80. Zdążyłem poznać Andy Warhola i jego Fabrykę, współpracowałem z jego odkrywcą, słynnym marszandem Leo Castellim, którego galeria mieściła się na Brodway'u…” – Ryszard Variksella.

Pierwszy milion Ryszard Varisella zarobił, handlując dziełami sztuki. W 1994 r. kupił Warkę, a dwa lata później Browary Dolnośląskie Piast. Wydał na nie, wraz z inwestycjami, 50 mln dol., a następnie sprzedał za łącznie 150 mln dol. Trzy lata temu tygodnik „Wprost" wycenił jego majątek na 350 mln zł.

Gdy wrócił do Polski na początku lat 90., był już milionerem. W 1994 r. za 2,7 mln USD kupił większościowy udział w upadającym browarze Warka. Zainwestował w firmę dodatkowo 12,5 mln USD i sprzedał browar szwajcarskiej firmie Welinvest. W 1996 r. za ponad 9,5 mln USD kupił 55 proc. akcji Browarów Dolnośląskich Piast. Zainwestował w nie kolejne 13 mln USD i stał się ich wyłącznym właścicielem. W 2001 r. sfinalizował transakcję sprzedaży browaru duńskiemu Carlsbergowi za 50 mln USD. Od tego momentu Varisella wyraźnie zmniejszył swoją aktywność biznesową. Ma farmę na Mazurach i stadninę koni wyścigowych. W 2004 r. założył fundusz inwestycyjny White & Towers, który ma inwestować w spółki z branży nowoczesnych technologii. Pozostaje rezydentem Księstwa Monako (mieszkańcy nie płacą podatku dochodowego). 47. na liście 100 najbogatszych Polaków tygodnika "Wprost" w 2006 r. z majątkiem 350 mln zł.

„…Całe moje życie byłem związany ze sztuką i uczyłem się czytać sztukę, oglądać, cieszyć się sztuką od najmłodszych lat. Wychowałem się w Łodzi, związany byłem ze środowiskiem akademickim Krakowa, z krakowską ASP, z łódzką ASP. Wychowany jestem na Kobro, Strzemińskim, na szkole krakowskiej. W domu dyskusje o sztuce nie miały końca…” – Ryszard Varisella.

Varisella Art – to nowa galeria na mapie Warszawy przy ul. Mazowieckiej 11 A, gdzie ostatnio w 2024 i 2025, odbyły się dwie wystawy zorganizowane przez Ryszarda Varisellę.

Ryszard W. Varisella – businessman, gallerist, art dealer, and collector, born on August 20, 1957. In 1983, he opened his first gallery in Germany.

“…During the communist era in Poland, my father earned quite substantial money as a leading producer in the horticultural industry, then commonly referred to as a ‘badylarz’ (a colloquial term for private growers). With his support, in the early 1980s I left for Germany and later for the United States. However, the first million I earned entirely on my own came from trading works of art. I am an economist by education, and it was my uncle—a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków—who encouraged me to pursue this path. I moved between New York and Europe, buying and selling works from the second half of the 20th century. I was interested in Picasso’s paintings, pop art, and the 1980s. I had the opportunity to meet Andy Warhol and his Factory, and I collaborated with his promoter, the famous art dealer Leo Castelli, whose gallery was located on Broadway…” – Ryszard Varisella.

Ryszard Varisella earned his first million trading works of art. In 1994, he acquired Warka Brewery, and two years later Browary Dolnośląskie Piast. Including investments, he spent $50 million on them and later sold them for a total of $150 million. Three years ago, the weekly Wprost estimated his wealth at 350 million PLN.

When he returned to Poland in the early 1990s, he was already a millionaire. In 1994, he purchased a majority stake in the struggling Warka brewery for $2.7 million. He invested an additional $12.5 million into the company and later sold it to the Swiss firm Welinvest. In 1996, he acquired 55% of Browary Dolnośląskie Piast for over $9.5 million. After investing another $13 million, he became its sole owner. In 2001, he finalized the sale of the brewery to the Danish company Carlsberg for $50 million. From that point on, Varisella significantly reduced his business activity. He owns a farm in the Masurian region and a racehorse stud. In 2004, he founded the investment fund White & Towers, which focuses on companies in the modern technology sector. He remains a resident of the Principality of Monaco (where residents do not pay income tax). He ranked 47th on the Wprost list of the 100 richest Poles in 2006, with a fortune of 350 million PLN.

I grew up in Łódź and was associated with the academic circles of Kraków, with the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and in Łódź. Varisella Art is a new gallery on the map of Warsaw, located at Mazowiecka Street 11A, where in 2024 and 2025 two exhibitions organized by Ryszard Varisella have recently taken place.
