Laura śpiewała w wielu świeckich klubach w Nowym Jorku, jednocześnie dążąc do kariery nagraniowej.

„…Pierwszy raz spotkałem i fotografowałem Laurę Hawthorne w listopadzie 1997 r. w Nowym Jorku, a potem w lutym 1998 r., też w Nowym Jorku.

Będąc przy łóżku brata w ośrodku opieki, Laura napisała „Ease the Pain” – emocjonalną balladę o swojej miłości do Jaya.

W 2004 roku Laura założyła Livin’ In His Love Ministries (międzynarodową służbę misyjną). W 2009 roku ukazała się jej płyta „He's Been Faithful”.

Mówi: „Zostałam powołana, aby wzmacniać i zachęcać wszystkich, którzy potrzebują nadziei i uzdrowienia w swoim życiu.”

PORTRAIT with HISTORY Laura Anne Hawthorne

Laura Anne Hawthorne was born on February 26, 1941, and passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 84. She lived in Alexandria, Minnesota.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Laura knew from a very early age—just five years old—that she wanted to become a professional recording artist.

At the age of 16, she gave her heart to the Lord during an evangelistic crusade, and that marked the beginning of her extraordinary journey. Laura sang in many secular clubs in New York City while pursuing a recording career.

“...I first met and photographed Laura Hawthorne in November 1997 in New York, and then again in February 1998, also in New York. I must say that she made a tremendous impression on me, which I hope comes through in the photographs...” — Czesław Czapliński.

Her calling to ministry, however, came later, when her younger brother Jay was paralyzed and became dependent on a ventilator following a construction accident in 2000. At her brother’s bedside in a care facility, Laura wrote “Ease the Pain,” an emotional ballad about her love for Jay. “God gave me this song in an instant because He knew how much we needed hope.”

As a national anthem singer for the New York Mets, Laura had the opportunity to sing the song she had written for her brother at Shea Stadium during the first annual Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day. Laura said: “...I had been a rather self-centered and ambitious performer until my brother’s tragedy occurred. But the Lord set me on a new path and gave me a new desire to use my gifts to further His kingdom by sharing my brother’s story...”

In 2004, Laura founded Livin’ In His Love Ministries, an international outreach ministry. She began traveling throughout the United States as a worship leader and speaker. Her album “He’s Been Faithful” was released in 2009. Her work expanded internationally, and she soon began participating in mission trips, ministering and leading worship in the Dominican Republic and Swaziland. Working with the organization Heart for Africa, she led thousands of orphaned children in worship.

In 2011, God took her ministry to a new level. She is currently collaborating on a new project in Nashville with Dove Award-winning songwriter and producer Don Koch, which was scheduled for release in 2013.

Laura has a sincere love for people that shines through her personality and her music. She says: “I have been called to strengthen and encourage all those who need hope and healing in their lives.”

At the age of 16, during an evangelistic crusade, she gave her heart to the Lord. She became Miss Delaware Teen USA, appeared on national television, and sang on the pageant’s soundtrack. She participated in various media events and, after graduating from college, moved to New York City to pursue her music career.

Her calling to ministry came in April 2000, when her brother Jay suffered a severe spinal cord injury in a construction accident, leaving him quadriplegic and dependent on a ventilator. As a national anthem singer for the New York Mets, she helped organize the first Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day at Shea Stadium, where she performed a pregame concert honoring her brother and other invited guests. Her brother became her personal hero and her inspiration for singing and leading others to Christ.

Laura founded the music ministry Livin In His Love and traveled across the country and around the world as a worship leader and speaker. She recently married, and she and her husband, Michael, lead worship at their church and share their testimony throughout the country.

Laura’s recordings include “He’s Been Faithful” (2009), “In the Garden” (2013), and “Fearless” (2016)—all created in collaboration with and produced by six-time Dove Award winner Don Koch.
