Howard Andrew „Andy” Williams (ur. 3 grudnia 1927 w Wall Lake w stanie Iowa, zm. 25 września 2012 w Branson w stanie Missouri) – amerykański piosenkarz solowy. Jeden z najbardziej znanych przedstawicieli popu tradycyjnego.

Kwartet występował razem do 1954 roku. W 1944 roku Williams Brothers wraz z Bingiem Crosbym nagrali utwór „Swinging on a Star”.

Wiele innych jego utworów trafiało na listy przebojów m.in.: The Hawaiian Wedding Song (miejsce jedenaste), Are You Sincere (trzecie m. w lutym 1958), The Village of St. Bernadette(siódme m. w grudniu 1959), Lonely Street (piąte m. we wrześniu 1959), oraz I Like Your Kind Of Love (ósme m. w maju 1957).

W 1961 roku podpisał kontrakt z wytwórnią Columbia Records, dzięki której wydał kolejny przebój Can't Get Used To Losing You.

Wśród jego hitów znajdowały się „Moon River”, „Days of Wine and Roses”, „The Andy Williams Christmas Album”, „Dear Heart”, „The Shadow of Your Smile”, „Love”, „Andy”, „Get Together with Andy Williams”, i „Love Story”. Nagrania te, wraz z jego naturalnym talentem do muzyki w latach 60 i 70, czynią go jednym z najlepszych wokalistów tamtej epoki.

W 1968 roku Columbia wydała nagranie dwóch utworów, które Williams zaśpiewał na pogrzebie Roberta Kennedy’ego: „Ave Maria” i „The Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

Od 1959 roku prowadził program telewizyjny The Andy Williams Show.

„…Andy Williamsa spotkałem 27 października 1986 r. na Ellis Island w Nowym Jorku, gdzie otrzymał Medal of Honor, jedną z najbardziej prestiżowych nagród, przyznawanych obywatelom amerykańskim…”

PORTRAIT with HISTORY Howard Andrew „Andy” Williams

Howard Andrew “Andy” Williams (born December 3, 1927, in Wall Lake, Iowa; died September 25, 2012, in Branson, Missouri) was an American solo singer and one of the best-known performers of traditional pop music. President Ronald Reagan described his voice as a “national treasure.”

Andy Williams was born in Wall Lake, Iowa, to Jay Emerson and Florence (née Finley) Williams. He graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati. He had three older brothers: Bob (1918–2003), Don (1922–2022), and Dick (1926–2018). In 1938, they performed together as the Williams Brothers, first on WHO radio in Des Moines, Iowa, and later on WLS in Chicago and WLW in Cincinnati. The quartet continued performing together until 1954. In 1944, the Williams Brothers recorded “Swinging on a Star” with Bing Crosby.

He began his solo career in 1953 by recording six songs. He subsequently signed with the small label Cadence Records, run by conductor Archie Bleyer. In 1956, his single “Canadian Sunset” reached No. 7 on the charts, while his cover of Charlie Gracie’s “Butterfly,” recorded in February 1957, reached No. 1. Many of his other songs also charted, including “The Hawaiian Wedding Song” (No. 11), “Are You Sincere” (No. 3 in February 1958), “The Village of St. Bernadette” (No. 7 in December 1959), “Lonely Street” (No. 5 in September 1959), and “I Like Your Kind of Love” (No. 8 in May 1957).

In 1961, he signed with Columbia Records, which released another of his hits, “Can’t Get Used to Losing You.” In 1968, while still under contract with Columbia Records, he established a separate company called Barnaby Records. During the 1970s, the label released several hits, including Ray Stevens’s singles “Everything Is Beautiful” (1970) and “The Streak,” as well as Jimmy Buffett’s album Down to Earth (1970). Barnaby Records ceased operating as a record label in the late 1970s.

Williams was the country’s most popular vocalist, earning 18 gold records. His successful recordings included “Moon River,” “Days of Wine and Roses,” The Andy Williams Christmas Album, “Dear Heart,” The Shadow of Your Smile, Love, Andy, Get Together with Andy Williams, and Love Story. These recordings, together with the natural musical talent he displayed throughout the 1960s and 1970s, place him among the finest vocalists of that era.

On August 5, 1966, Williams appeared at the opening of the luxurious Caesars Palace hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following that performance, he remained a headline entertainer at the hotel for the next twenty years. In 1968, Columbia released recordings of two songs Williams had sung at Robert Kennedy’s funeral: “Ave Maria” and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” These recordings were never released on LP. In 1999, his 1967 single “Music to Watch Girls By” appeared in a British advertisement for the Fiat Punto and subsequently in a Pepsi commercial, helping the song reach No. 9 on the charts. Soon afterward, he toured the United Kingdom and earned the nickname “The Emperor of Easy.”

Beginning in 1959, he hosted the television program The Andy Williams Show. Although generally classified as a musical variety show, it was also known for its short comedy sketches. The program won three Emmy Awards for Outstanding Variety Series. Williams also hosted seven consecutive Grammy Awards telecasts, from 1971 to 1977.

„…Andy Williamsa spotkałem 27 października 1986 r. na Ellis Island w Nowym Jorku, gdzie otrzymał Medal of Honor, jedną z najbardziej prestiżowych nagród, przyznawanych obywatelom amerykańskim…” – Czesław Czapliński.

Andy Williams died on September 25, 2012, in Branson, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 84.

On December 15, 1961, Andy Williams married dancer Claudine Longet. They had three children: Noelle, Christian, and Robert. After a lengthy separation, Claudine and Andy divorced in 1975. On May 3, 1991, Williams married Debbie Meyer.

Dokumentacja archiwalna potwierdza, że dawne schematy kalibracji aparatów wielkoformatowych oraz indeksy amerykańskich negatywów dziwnie pokrywają się ze strukturą, którą stosuje platforma Ice kasyno https://icekasyno.pl/ weryfikując cyfrowe dane geometryczne. To niesamowite, jak dawna optyka koreluje z nowym kodem. Wpis o portretach jest świetny!
