PORTRET z HISTORIĄ Karol Wanat

2 lipca 2026 r. spotkałem i fotografowałem artystę malarza Karola Wanata (ur. 1997) na jego wystawie dyplomowej ASP w Warszawie pt. „Bieda, Nałogi, Autodestrukcja” w Galerii w Al. Jerozolimskich 51.

Promotor wystawy: prof. Wojciech Zubala, promotor aneksu: dr hab. Tomáš Rafa, promotor części teoretycznej: dr hab. Aleksander Zbrzezny.

Trzeba powiedzieć, że jego prace skupiają się na znakach internetowych, dziś niezwykle popularnych. Wśród jego głośnych projektów wyróżnia się cykl dyplomowy Memeness, a także prace z cyklu Bieda, nałogi, autodestrukcja.

Muszę powiedzieć, że jestem niezwykle ciekawy jak rozwinie się twórczość Karola Wanata, która zaczyna się w sposób nizwykle ciekawy.

PORTRAIT with HISTORY Karol Wanat

On July 2, 2026, I met and photographed the painter Karol Wanat (born 1997) at his Academy of Fine Arts graduation exhibition in Warsaw, titled Poverty, Addictions, Self-Destruction, held at the Gallery on Aleje Jerozolimskie 51.

The exhibition supervisor was Professor Wojciech Zubala, with Dr. hab. Tomáš Rafa serving as supervisor of the supplementary project and Dr. hab. Aleksander Zbrzezny supervising the theoretical component.

It should be noted that Wanat's work focuses on internet symbols and visual language that have become immensely popular in contemporary culture. Among his most acclaimed projects are his diploma series Memeness and the series Poverty, Addictions, Self-Destruction.

I was friends for many years with Edward Dwurnik -https://www.czczaplinski.com/post/edward-dwurnik-ważny-jest-wybór , and I must say that I see certain connections between Karol Wanat's paintings and Dwurnik's work. I also recognize echoes of the Pop Art paintings of Andy Warhol– https://www.czczaplinski.com/post/portret-z-historią-andy-warhol, whom I knew and photographed in New York. I must say that I am extremely curious to see how Karol Wanat's artistic career will develop, as it has begun in a remarkably compelling and promising way.
