„…Najpierw zobaczyłem Nowy Jork z samolotu i proszę mi wierzyć: ten widok całkowicie zmienił moją wizualną percepcję rzeczywistości. Tym, co w pierwszej chwili zwróciło moją uwagę, był dominujące w strukturze miasta kierunki pionowe i poziome. (…) Nowy Jork jest prosty i uporządkowany, a jego struktura opiera się w pewnym stopniu na siatce krzyżujących się linii. Zrozumiałem natychmiast, że muszę poznać sposób budowy struktury Nowego Jorku i gdy tylko zamieszkałem tutaj, zacząłem zbierać wszystkei dostępne informacje na temat miasta, przede wszystkim takie, jak mapy, fotografie dokonywane z lotu ptaka itd…” – Tadeusz Mysłowski.
Tadeusz Mysłowski (ur. 7 maja 1943 roku w Piotrkowie koło Lublina) – artysta malarz, grafik, fotograf.
Od 1970 roku mieszka i tworzy w Nowym Jorku.
Urodził się w Piotrkowie koło Lublina, gdzie mieszkał do lat 60. Wówczas jego rodzina przeprowadziła się do Lublina. Absolwent Liceum Sztuk Plastycznych w Lublinie i malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie. Po raz pierwszy pokazał swoje prace w Paryżu, na wystawie w galerii Lambert. W 1970 roku wyemigrował do Nowego Jorku.
W 2010 r. Jerzy Jacek Bojarski zrealizował film o Tadeuszu Mysłowskim Rozpoczęło się w Piotrkowie. Z prywatnego archiwum pamięci opowiada Tade. Myslowski Lublin 2010.
Wielokrotnie wystawiał m.in. Nowy Jork, Belgrad, Paryż, Lizbona, Kraków, Lublin, Wrocław. Luwr w Paryżu, Museum of Modern Art w Nowym Jorku, Muzeum Wiktorii i Alberta w Londynie, Hünfeld, w 1995 roku w Warszawie Tadeusz Mysłowski zaprezentował swoją wystawę Nieskończone kolumny; W 1999 roku wraz ze Zbigniewem Bargielskim zrealizował Shrine – multimedialną instalację na Majdanku, dla Lublina zaprojektował instalację nawiązującą do wydarzeń 11 września, zaprojektował kolumnę św. Michała, która miała stanąć na Placu po Farze; jedna z wystaw (w Galerie Renos Xippas w Paryżu), w lutym 1996 roku, została wykorzystana w filmie reklamowym koncernu IBM.
„…Najbardziej w procesie fotograficznym interesuje mnie ukryta tajemnica interwencji światła (tajemnica fizyczno-chemiczna), reakcja procesu. Pragnę być zaskoczony poprzez proces i technikę, którą posługuję się w danym przypadku. Sztuka, według mnie ma sens, kiedy istnieje aspekt zaskoczenia i przygody…” – Tadeusz Mysłowski.
Poznaliśmy się w Nowym Jorku, mieszkał wówczas na Long Island City, w lutym 1983 r., po raz pierwszy zrobiłem mu zdjęcia, tak się złożyło, że pojawił się rzeźbiarz Andrzej Pityński, i powstał też ich wspólny portret. Potem spotykaliśmy się przy różnych okazjach w Nowym Jorku, a nawet w Polsce.
Prace Tadeusza Mysłowskiego znajdują się w zbiorach Muzeum Narodowego w Warszawie.
Nagradzany i wyróżniany m.in. Laureat Międzynarodowe Triennale Grafiki w Krakowie, Artysta roku Angelus Lubelski (2009).
W piśmie KURIER LUBELSKI (19 maja 2018) pisała Teresa Dras m.in. „…Lubelsko-nowojorski artysta już na stałe wkroczył w poczet znakomitości naszego miasta. W piątek w Muzeum Lubelskim na Zamku razem z żoną odsłonił Galerię imienia Ireny Hochman i Tadeusza Mysłowskiego.
Z naszej strony to hołd złożony artyście i jego żonie, którzy Muzeum Lubelskiemu ofiarowali w ubiegłym roku 250 obrazów i grafik z ich prywatnych zbiorów, w tym prace takich gigantów współczesnej sztuki jak Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, w sumie 136 artystów – mówiła Dorota Wawryniuk z muzeum na zamku podczas otwarcia nowej galerii.
T o był podwójny wernisaż: nowej przestrzeni i nowej wystawy. Obie akcje miały związek z życiem i działalnością twórczą Tadeusza Mysłowskiego, obie wydarzyły się w piątek, 18 maja w Muzeum Lubelskim na Zamku.
Mysłowski był wzruszony. - Czuję się zaszczycony, wdzięczny ale i zażenowany, że tak wszyscy mnie tu kochają. Nie zasłużyłem...
Urodzony pod Lublinem twórca od lat 70. ubiegłego wieku mieszka w Nowym Jorku, nie tracąc jednak kontaktu z naszym miastem. - Dla mnie Lublin jest tak samo duży jak Nowy Jork - wyznał. I dodał: - Nowy Jork to metropolia Zachodu, a Lublin metropolia to Wschodu…”.

“…First I saw New York from a plane and believe me: this view completely changed my visual perception of reality. What first caught my attention was the vertical and horizontal directions that dominated the structure of the city.
(…) New York is simple and orderly, and its structure is based to some extent on a grid of intersecting lines. I immediately understood that I needed to learn how to build the structure of New York, and as soon as I settled here, I started collecting all the available information about the city, especially maps, aerial photographs, etc…” – Tadeusz Mysłowski.

We met in New York, he lived in Long Island City at the time, in February 1983, I took pictures of him for the first time, it so happened that the sculptor Andrzej Pityński appeared, and their joint portrait was also created. Then we met on various occasions in New York and even in Poland.

On Friday, at the Lublin Museum at the Castle, together with his wife, he unveiled the Irena Hochman and Tadeusz Mysłowski Gallery.
On our part, it is a tribute to the artist and his wife, who last year donated 250 paintings and graphics from their private collections to the Lublin Museum, including works by such giants of contemporary art as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol, a total of 136 artists - said Dorota Wawryniuk from the castle museum during the opening of the new gallery.
It was a double vernissage: a new space and a new exhibition. Both actions were related to the life and creative activity of Tadeusz Mysłowski, both took place on Friday, May 18 at the Lublin Museum at the Castle.

Born near Lublin, the artist has been living in New York since the 1970s, but has not lost touch with our city. - For me, Lublin is as big as New York - he confessed. And he added: - New York is the metropolis of the West, and Lublin is the metropolis of the East…”.
