Barbara Munzer urodziła się w 1939 roku w Łodzi i tam ukończyła studia w Państwowej Wyższej Szkole Sztuk Plastycznych. Dyplom-w zakresie ubioru i biżuterii uzyskuje w 1965 roku. W 1966 zostaje przyjęta w poczet członków rzeczywistych ZPAP.


Po studiach malowała obrazy i projektowała grafikę użytkową, wkrótce zaczęła też projektować i wykonywać biżuterię i rekwizyty do filmu, telewizji i domów mody. Powstały wtedy całe zestawy ozdób do kolekcji „Mody Polskiej” (udział w pokazach w latach 1968, 1970-75) i „Telimeny” (udział w pokazach w latach 1969-73).
Uczestniczyła w wielu wystawach zbiorowych, w kraju i zagranicą, miała szereg pokazów autorskich m. in. w Łodzi, Warszawie, Krakowie, Płocku, Amsterdamie, Arnhem, Bochum Dusseldorfie, Essen, Borken.

Barbara Munzer was born in 1939 in Łódź, where she also completed her studies at the State Higher School of Fine Arts. She received her diploma in 1965 in the field of clothing and jewelry design. In 1966, she became a full member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP).

After graduating, she painted and designed applied graphics, and soon began creating jewelry and props for film, television, and fashion houses. During that time, she designed complete sets of ornaments for the collections of Moda Polska (participation in shows between 1968 and 1975) and Telimena (participation in shows between 1969 and 1973).

She has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Poland and abroad and has held a number of solo exhibitions, among others in Łódź, Warsaw, Kraków, Płock, Amsterdam, Arnhem, Bochum, Düsseldorf, Essen, and Borken.

“...The realm of Barbara Munzer’s artistic visions, called Spatial Objects because of their three-dimensional forms and considerable size, says little about the peculiar nature of these objects, characterized by the lightness of their construction and the transparency of their openwork structures, extracted from metallic material. Moreover, they belong to the world of biological forms, interpreted in a spirit akin to the exuberant and restless Art Nouveau...

Through her personification of these multifaceted shapes, the artist gives them original meaning — their uniqueness and message lie precisely in her choice of form.

The garments embody both the richness of compositional solutions and exceptional ornamentation, while also evoking the atmosphere of the figures to whom they are dedicated. They appeal more to the imagination than to attempts at representation seemingly closer to realism.
