„…Bez wątpienia wąsy robią największe wrażenie u Władysława Grochowskiego, z którym się spotkałem w jednym z jego hoteli Arche w Warszawie - niedawno 14 maja 2024 r. Ale oprócz tego niezwykła rozmowa, bo trudno sobie wyobrazić, że ktoś, kto stworzył takie imperium, nie byłby kimś niezwykłym…” – Czesław Czapliński.
Od 1977 r. pracował na własnym gospodarstwie rolnym. W latach 1990–1997 piastował stanowisko wójta gminy Trzebieszów (woj. lubelskie). W 1991 r. z kapitałem założycielskim wynoszącym 100 tysięcy złotych otworzył firmę deweloperską Arche Spółka Akcyjna, w której został głównym akcjonariuszem i prezesem.
Pierwszą inwestycją była budowa Osiedla Królowej Marysieńki w Wilanowie. Działalność hotelową rozpoczął od budowy w 1998 r. hotelu w Siedlcach. Pierwszym ocalonym obiektem zabytkowym był Pałac w Łochowie, odbudowany w latach 2005–2008.
„…Pierwszy hotel to był zupełny przypadek. W Siedlcach był jakiś tam mały biurowiec i nie było co z tym zrobić żeby go nie wyburzać, więc powstał taki hotel. Następnie był zabytek – pałac w Łochowie. Później nie mieliśmy co z terenem w Warszawie zrobić, nie można było postawić mieszkaniówki, więc znowu może hotel. I tak to poszło. Nie planowałem tego zupełnie. Może poważniej około 5 lat temu zaczęliśmy myśleć, że faktycznie może to być ciekawe. Wtedy tak sobie puściłem bez zastanowienia, że chcemy być największą siecią hotelową. Jak może nie największą to może najbardziej oryginalną. No i nie sądziłem że po chyba 5 latach jesteśmy faktycznie największą wg ilości pokoi. Jesteśmy rozpędzeni i bardzo się cieszę, że w tym miejscu jesteśmy…” – Władysław Grochowski.

W ramach działalności deweloperskiej wybudował 10 tys. mieszkań, 19 hoteli oraz 27 restauracji. Zatrudnia 2000 osób (dane na 6 października 2023 r.).
„…Myślę, że nasze obiekty w szczególności te zabytkowe są tak ciekawe same w sobie i mają tą historię i tego ducha miejsca, że niewiele trzeba dodawać. Jeszcze nawiązując do projektowania społecznego, to chcemy, żeby to nie były autorskie projekty architekta wnętrz, tylko bardziej zbiorowe działanie. Włączamy różne grupy ludzi, między innymi osoby niepełnosprawne z zespołem Downa albo lokalne kobiety – seniorki, które znają to miejsce i pewne wpływy lokalne i na dodatek profesjonalistów typu studenci Akademii Sztuk Pięknych, którzy mogą się przy okazji otworzyć. Mamy bardzo ciekawe doświadczenia z Gdańska, gdzie był taki plener malarski na 30 parę osób z zespołem Downa plus studenci i profesorowie…” – Władysław Grochowski.
W 2002 r. był współzałożycielem Stowarzyszenia Wspólnota Nadbużańska. W kwietniu 2014 r. wraz z żoną założył Fundację Leny Grochowskiej, która zatrudnia osoby niepełnosprawne intelektualnie oraz pomaga im się usamodzielniać. Fundacja sprowadza również repatriantów z Kazachstanu oraz zapewnia im mieszkania i pracę.
Nagrody i wyróżnienia m.in. 2016 – Człowiek Roku 2016 (Prezes Grupy Arche) w kategorii specjalnej w 3. edycji konkursu „Hotelarz roku”; 2017 – wyróżnienie dla prezesa spółki Arche w rankingu Indeks Patriotyzmu Polskiego Biznesu, organizowanego przez redakcję „Rzeczpospolitej” i Fundację Patriotyzmu Gospodarczego; 2017 – Benemerenti in Opere Evangelizationis za sfinansowanie budowy szkoły i zaplecza edukacyjnego w Busso (Czad); 2022 – Krzyż Oficerski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski; 2022 – Order Uśmiechu; 2023 - Nansen Refugee Award.
Ojciec dwójki dzieci. Od 1978 r. w związku małżeńskim z Leną. Prywatnie zajmuje się hodowlą danieli. Laureat nagród: Wizjonera Roku, Filantropa, Lidera Polskiego Biznesu, Super Optymisty.

From 1977 he worked on his own farm. In the years 1990–1997 he held the position of mayor of the Trzebieszów commune (Lublin Voivodeship). In 1991, with an initial capital of PLN 100,000, he opened a development company, Arche Spółka Akcyjna, in which he became the main shareholder and president.
The first investment was the construction of the Królowej Marysieńki Housing Estate in Wilanów. He started his hotel business with the construction of a hotel in Siedlce in 1998. The first historic building to be saved was the Palace in Łochów, rebuilt in 2005–2008.
“…The first hotel was a complete accident. There was a small office building in Siedlce and there was nothing to do with it without demolishing it, so a hotel was built. Then there was a monument - the palace in Łochów. Later, we had nothing to do with the land in Warsaw, we couldn't build a residential building, so maybe a hotel again. And that's how it went. I didn't plan this at all. Maybe more seriously, about 5 years ago we started thinking that it might actually be interesting. Then I said without thinking that we wanted to be the largest hotel chain. If not the biggest, maybe the most original. And I didn't think that after probably 5 years we were actually the largest in terms of the number of rooms. We are gaining momentum and I am very happy that we are in this place…” – Władysław Grochowski.

As part of his development activity, he built 10,000. apartments, 19 hotels and 27 restaurants. It employs 2,000 people (as of October 6, 2023).
“…I think that our facilities, especially the historic ones, are so interesting in themselves and have this history and the spirit of the place that there is little need to add. Still referring to social design, we want these to not be original designs by an interior designer, but rather a collective effort. We involve various groups of people, including disabled people with Down syndrome or local women - seniors who know this place and certain local influences, and, in addition, professionals such as students of the Academy of Fine Arts, who can open up at the same time. We have very interesting experiences from Gdańsk, where there was an open-air painting session for 30 people with Down syndrome plus students and professors..." - Władysław Grochowski.
In 2002, he was a co-founder of the Bug River Community Association. In April 2014, together with his wife, he founded the Lena Grochowska Foundation, which employs people with intellectual disabilities and helps them become independent. The foundation also brings repatriates from Kazakhstan and provides them with housing and work.
Awards and distinctions include: 2016 – Person of the Year 2016 (President of the Arche Group) in the special category in the 3rd edition of the "Hotelier of the Year" competition; 2017 – distinction for the president of Arche in the Polish Business Patriotism Index ranking, organized by the editorial office of "Rzeczpospolita" and the Economic Patriotism Foundation; 2017 – Benemerenti in Opere Evangelizationis for financing the construction of a school and educational facilities in Busso (Chad); 2022 – Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta; 2022 – Order of the Smile; 2023 - Nansen Refugee Award.
