Mats Wilander (ur. 22 sierpnia 1964 w Växjö) – szwedzki tenisista i trener tenisa, zwycięzca siedmiu turniejów wielkoszlemowych w grze pojedynczej i jednego w grze podwójnej, lider rankingu singlowego, zdobywca Pucharu Davisa.

Startując jeszcze w gronie juniorów Wilander zwyciężył w 1981 roku w Rolandzie Garrosie.

Jako zawodowy tenisista startował w latach 1981–1996. Był czołowym zawodnikiem świata w drugiej połowie lat 80., zwyciężając w 33 turniejach rangi ATP World Tour w grze pojedynczej, w tym 7 wielkoszlemowych.

W 1982 roku wygrał po raz pierwszy zawody wielkoszlemowe, turniej Rolanda Garrosa, po pokonaniu w finale Guillermo Vilasa; miał wtedy 17 lat i 9 miesięcy i był najmłodszym triumfatorem wielkoszlemowym w historii; wynik ten wkrótce poprawili Boris Becker i Michael Chang. Triumfował także na kortach Rolanda Garrosa w 1985 roku i 1988 roku, a w 1983 roku i 1987 roku dochodził do finału. Trzykrotnie triumfował w Australian Open (1983, 1984 – turnieje rozgrywane w grudniu; 1988), a w 1985 roku (grudzień) przegrał w finale. W 1984 roku grał także w przegranym finale gry podwójnej. Wilander odniósł także zwycięstwo na US Open, 1988 roku. Ponadto osiągał finał singla w Nowym Jorku w 1987 roku i finał debla w 1985 roku. Jedyny tytuł wielkoszlemowy w deblu zdobył w 1986 roku na Wimbledonie, a jego partnerem był Joakim Nyström.

Wielokrotnie tenisista szwedzki kwalifikował się do zawodów Masters Grand Prix, awansując w 1987 roku do finału gry pojedynczej. W 1986 roku był uczestnikiem razem z Joakimem Nyströmem finału gry podwójnej.

W 1988 roku, po zwycięskim finale US Open nad Ivanem Lendlem, awansował na 1. pozycję w rankingu singlowym. Łącznie na szczycie listy znajdował się przez 20 tygodni.

W latach 1981–1990 reprezentował Szwecję w Pucharze Davisa i trzykrotnie zdobywał to trofeum – w 1984, 1985, 1987 roku.

Bierze także aktywny udział w rozgrywkach weteranów, odnosząc kolejne sukcesy.

W 2002 roku został wpisany do Międzynarodowej Tenisowej Galerii Sławy.

Na początku XXI wieku Wilander pracował jako trener Marata Safina. Od lipca 2007 do końca sezonu 2007 był szkoleniowcem Tatiany Golovin. Kolejnym podopiecznym Szweda był Paul-Henri Mathieu.

W marcu 2016 podjął pracę z Madison Keys, jednak po 8 dniach ich współpraca się zakończyła.

Od wielu lat pracuje jako komentator i ekspert tenisa dla Eurosportu; wspólnie z Barbarą Schett prowadzi tam program Gem, Schett, Mats.

Mats Wilander (born August 22, 1964, in Växjö) is a Swedish tennis player and coach, winner of seven Grand Slam singles titles and one doubles title, a former world No. 1 in singles, and a Davis Cup champion.

While still a junior, Wilander won the 1981 French Open.As a professional, he competed from 1981 to 1996. He was one of the world’s leading players in the second half of the 1980s, winning 33 ATP singles titles, including seven Grand Slams.

In 1982, he won his first Grand Slam title at Roland Garros, defeating Guillermo Vilas in the final. At 17 years and 9 months, he became the youngest Grand Slam champion in history at the time; this record was soon surpassed by Boris Becker and Michael Chang. He also won Roland Garros in 1985 and 1988, and reached the final in 1983 and 1987.

He won the Australian Open three times (1983, 1984—both played in December—and 1988), and was runner-up in December 1985. In 1984, he also reached the doubles final. Wilander also won the US Open in 1988, and reached the singles final there in 1987 and the doubles final in 1985. His only Grand Slam doubles title came at Wimbledon Championships in 1986, partnering Joakim Nyström.

Wilander frequently qualified for the Masters Grand Prix, reaching the singles final in 1987 and the doubles final in 1986 (with Nyström).

In 1988, after defeating Ivan Lendl in the US Open final, he became world No. 1 in singles, holding the top ranking for a total of 20 weeks.

From 1981 to 1990, he represented Sweden in the Davis Cup, winning the trophy three times (1984, 1985, 1987).

He has also remained active in senior competitions, achieving further success.

In 2002, he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

In the early 2000s, Wilander worked as a coach for Marat Safin. From July 2007 until the end of that season, he coached Tatiana Golovin. Another of his players was Paul-Henri Mathieu.

In March 2016, he began working with Madison Keys, but their collaboration ended after just eight days.

For many years, he has worked as a commentator and tennis expert for Eurosport, where he co-hosts the program Gem, Schett, Mats with Barbara Schett.
